The New R-Series Speakers
Facts At-A-Glance:
Below is a quick guide to the improvements, features, advantages and benefits.
There are 3 levels of R-series speakers:
Injected Molded Poly (Good) – This is what you are used to in the current CPi Series. It provides a deeper bass response.
Models: R1-6 & R1-8RD1-6 & RD1-8
Glass Fiber (Better) – This material is stiff and high quality, which helps provide even more extended bass and great power handling.
Models: R2-6 & R2-8
Woven Carbon Fiber (Best) – This is a redesigned driver to replace the aluminum driver that was used in the past. While the aluminum provided great bass, this new woven carbon fiber provides great bass as well, and also gives a smoother overall sound. This is especially important for voice and many instruments in whole house music applications.
Models: R3-6 & R3-8RD3-6 & RD3-8
Now Shipping: R1-6, R2-6, R3-6, R1-8, RD1-6, RD3-6,
R2-8, R3-8, RD1-8, RD3-8
Crossovers have been redesigned and enriched and all driver (woofer) materials have been upgraded to a higher quality.
Improved, larger and higher quality tweeters. Also now with a swivel bridge mount tweeter.

The R-Series Uses the New EZFrame™ Technology
Click here for more info on the EZFrame.
While it may seem like a simple feature upgrade it is much more than that. This retooling design actually eliminates up to 50% of the installer’s labor when comparing to the installation time of the average speaker.
The EZFrame consists of two main pieces: the main speaker and the grill assembly. The grill assembly consists of the grill and an outside baffle (the edge of the speaker that is exposed to the room). Here is how it works: The main speaker is installed like a typical in-ceiling speaker. To install the grill, simply place it up near the speaker, line up the magnets and put it in place. The magnets pull it onto the speaker and securely hold it there. A typical 10 - 15 minute job now takes less than a minute.
The EZFrame features an aluminum grill to prevent rusting, a one piece frame and grill to make for easy painting or replacing (away from the jobsite if needed - the contractors can’t paint over it if it is not there…). The EZFrame is also sold separately for easy stocking, there is no paint shield needed, and it greatly cuts down on labor costs.
One step speaker painting - just have the grill/frame painted and then install both the speaker and the G/F at finish time. It’s no longer necessary to install the speaker and paint shield to paint the frame and have the grill painted separately and have two different install trips.
All EZFrame speakers will install into existing RC-8 & RC-6 rough-in rings.

A NOTE ABOUT PRICING: While the prices for these new speakers are slightly higher, it is important to note that many materials costs have gone up, particularly copper. Over four years TruAudio has kept the same pricing on our speakers despite the continually increasing cost of materials. The new R Series have significant improvements in quality and performance and the prices have risen only slightly over the current models. When you add the incredible benefit of the EZ Frame, the value of these new speakers is even better than the current models. Combine that with the labor and time savings and we’ve got a winner.
