Round shaped architectural speakers are most of the time referred to as “in-ceiling speakers”. This is because these are usually installed into the ceiling to blend in with other typical ceiling fixtures like recess can lights, ceiling fans, smoke detectors, etc.

Most in-ceiling speakers are of the “coaxial” design meaning the tweeter (high frequency) is located on the middle of the woofer (low or mid frequencies) instead of a dust cap. This design delivers a uniform sound that is perfect for speakers placed above the listening area.
